MicroLaser Peel Aftercare, Results and Recovery
You will be given skin care products and instructions on how to use them. Your skin will be sensitive to ultra- violet light after the procedure, so you must avoid direct sun exposure until fully healed. It is recommended that you always use some level of solar protection to avoid sun damage and premature aging of your skin.

Immediately after the treatment you will notice that the skin has a "frosty" appearance. This is the dehydrated skin that will peel away within next few days following the treatment. Slight swelling may be present in the treated area; however, it usually subsides within a few hours to a day. Redness may persist for a few days, depending on the depth of the treatment, but should resolve fairly rapidly. It is important that you avoid sun exposure, especially while your skin is healing. If you must go outdoors, it is recommended that you cover your treated skin, wear a hat and use sun block of SPF 30 or higher. We will direct you on specific instructions for after-treatment care.

Depending on the depth of treatment, most patients feel comfortable enough to return to work within 3 to 4 days - an attribute that has given rise to the nickname "the weekend peel." We will typically prescribe an occlusive ointment to keep your skin moist for one to five days depending on the depth of the treatment. After that, we will recommend moisturizer to be used. Your healing time will depend on factors such as treatment depth and post-treatment care. Healing time may also vary between individuals.

Because only the outer layer of skin is treated, most patients notice an obvious improvement in tone, texture and color evenness once the skin heals in approximately 3-4 days. Most patients say that a MicroLaser Peel, even a light one, returns a healthy glow to their skin and that the texture is smooth. Often an immediate improvement in dyschromia (skin discoloration) and overall color homogeneity of the skin is achieved.

Great results are often achieved after just one treatment. However, we recommend patients have a series of shallow peels to achieve a gradual improvement in their skin coupled with very minimal downtime. Typically, a MicroLaser Peel can be repeated approximately every 4-8 weeks. We will provide you with customized treatment options to reflect your desired outcomes.
