How Labiaplasty and Cosmetic Genital Vaginal Rejuvenation is Performed
There are several different types of labiaplasty and cosmetic vaginal rejuvenation techniques – the best option for you will depend on your specific needs.
Labia Minora or Majora Reduction or Labiaplasty– this procedure involves the surgical removal of excess tissue and reshaping of the inner and/or outter lips of the vulva. Incisions are very carefully placed and scarring should be well-hidden after the procedure.
Clitoral Hood Reduction – this can often be performed in combination with labiaplasty. A clitoral hood reduction is designed to trim excess skin that may be hanging over the clitoris.
Labiaplasty and vaginal rejuvenation procedures are typically performed using our laser to sutures to close the incisions. A long-lasting anesthetic will be injected into the area to minimize post-operative discomfort. You will need about 1-2 days of bed-rest after the procedure. Dr. Erhard advises patients to avoid excessive sitting for two weeks and constantly changing your seating and laying position to ease pressure in any one area. Cycling, sexual intercourse, and other activities that may cause direct pressure to be applied to the genital area should be avoided for at least six weeks. You will see Dr Erhard for a post procedure Labiaplasty or vaginal rejuvenation follow up visit between 5-6 weeks to advise you of the "green light" for these activities.
Once the initial swelling from labiaplasty surgery has subsided, you should notice the optimal results of this procedure. Most patients who undergo labiaplasty are now able to feel confident and comfortable while exercising, walking, engaging in sexual intimacy, wearing certain types of clothing, and participating in other activities that caused them discomfort before the surgery was performed.
Privacy and discretion are an integral part of our practice. During your consultation you will speak with Dr. Erhard directly and she will answer any questions you may have regarding the labiaplasty surgery itself, recovery time, medications, and how to eliminate any potential post- surgery complications.
Labiaplasty may be performed in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures including vaginal rejuvenation, clitoral hood reduction, or liposuction.
